Are you a data-driven problem solver passionate about leveraging analytics to enhance program effectiveness? We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst to support initiatives within the Office of Learning, Education, and Development Strategy (LEADS). In this role, you will help streamline data processes, enhance reporting, and provide actionable insights to strengthen learning and development programs.
This is a non-reimbursable 1-year detail opportunity for current federal employees. Please note that this is a detail assignment, not a developmental rotation, and does not include a temporary promotion opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
As a Data Analyst, you will:
Apply data management techniques to clean, explore, and analyze complex datasets related to training and HR initiatives.
Utilize tools like Excel, R, Python, SAS, Tableau, Power BI, and PowerPoint to perform analysis and create impactful data visualizations.
Automate processes to reduce errors and improve efficiency in data workflows.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify and address data-related challenges.
Present clear, visually engaging insights using reports, presentations, and infographics.
Assist in capturing, storing, and analyzing data to support decision-making and drive program improvements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To qualify, candidates must:
Have experience analyzing complex datasets and applying statistical techniques.
Be proficient with data visualization tools and programming languages (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Python, R).
Demonstrate the ability to streamline and automate workflows for improved accuracy and efficiency.
Communicate data insights effectively through clear reports, presentations, and visualizations.
Possess a collaborative mindset and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working with training and HR-related data is a plus.
Eligibility Requirements
Must be a current permanent federal employee.
Supervisory approval is required to apply (signed DHS 250-2 form).
Must have no pending or outstanding disciplinary actions.
Must have achieved at least “meets expectations/proficiency” on the most recent performance evaluation.
Applicants must currently hold the same grade level as the detail assignment.
